MobiTrack Mobile CRM+ Frequently Asked Questions
General Product Questions
1. What is Mobile CRM+ for MSCRM?
Mobile CRM+ is a Mobile client that provides Mobile access to Microsoft Dynamics CRM server from a Android smart phone. In addition to providing full access to the MSCRM server, it has some additional features which make it more desirable. Some of them are: (a) it does not require any changes to the CRM server, (b) it is sold on one time licensing basis, no monthly fee, and the one time license fee is also quite inexpensive (c) it works in online/offline mode, (d) it integrates with device clients such as email/contact/phone/calendar/task/microphone/camera etc. so any activity related to these device apps can be directly tracked on CRM server through Mobile CRM+, (e) it is customization ready so most customizations can be done easily, often with no additional cost and many more…
2. What if I don’t want all features of Mobile CRM+? I have a matured business and I would like to access only contacts and activities related to contact
Mobile CRM+ is designed such a way that individual modules can be separated and they will provide all features of the CRM for only limited entities. Contact & Activity manager that lets you work with all server contacts and activities related to the contacts is one such product available at a much lower cost.
3. Do I have to make any changes to my CRM server in order to use Mobile CRM+ or Contact & Activity Manager?
No. If the OnPremise or Hosted server is accessible from Internet or if you are using Microsoft Online server, just install the mobile client and start using it. If your server can only be accessed using local IP or through VPN, you will need the Protected OnPremise version and need to install a Proxy service on another server through which you will access the CRM server. Still, no changes to the CRM server are required. This Proxy service is available free from us.
Customizability of Mobile CRM+
4. Can I customize Mobile CRM+ to support only the entities I want?
Yes. Please contact MobiTrack with your requirement. The application is schema driven and can be easily configured to support the Entities you require.
5. Can I support different entities than what is available in the trial version of Mobile CRM+?
Yes. Please contact MobiTrack with your requirement. The application is schema driven and can be easily configured to support the Entities you require.
6. Can I support different entities than what is available in the trial version of Mobile CRM+?
Yes. Please contact MobiTrack with your requirement. The application is schema driven and can be easily configured to support the Attributes you require.
7. Can it display the attributes in the same language as that is configured in the server?
Yes. The display name of the Entities, Attributes and filters can be configured in the same language as that is available in the server. Please contact MobiTrack with your requirement.
8. Can I add different filters for the Entities and support custom filters.
Yes. The application is schema driven and can be configured to support custom filter as per you requirement. Please contact MobiTrack with your requirement.
9. How much data the application downloads?
The default application is configured with the filters which have the same query as that is present in the server. If it is customized, then your custom filters are active. The application does not limit any data download. So, for a particular filter in Mobile CRM+, you will be able to see as much information as you see when using the same filter in CRM server desktop access. However, if you have several thousands of records in the server for a filter, it will take a long time for Mobile CRM+ to download all data to the device. Therefore, each time you choose to download, Mobile CRM+ gives you the option to download all data or data updated during last 30, 60, 90, 180, 360 days. Depending on what you select, the volume of data downloaded will be different.
10. Does the application support custom Entities?
Yes. Please contact MobiTrack with your requirement. The application is schema driven and can be configured to support the Entities you require.
Installation and Sign-in Related
11. Can I download and install the software in my device directly?
Yes. You can browse the URL www.mobitrack.in from your mobile device, follow the instructions and download the application directly to your device. If you want your users to download the program from your server you can do that as well.
12. Which version of Software should I download?
The software is available in three different versions. Each version is configured to access the following server:
  1. OnPremise and Hosted Version: This version is for OnPremise or Hosted servers that are directly accessible from Internet. They could use one of the following Authentication methods:
    1. Web base (IFD Authentication)
    2. OnPremise (AD Authentication)
  2. OnPremise Protected: This version is for OnPremise servers that are protected inside the firewall and they require an additional Proxy web service to be installed on server (provided free of charge and easy to install). They could also use one of the following Authentication methods:
    1. Web base (IFD Authentication)
    2. OnPremise (AD Authentication)
  3. Microsoft Online Version: This is for the On demand CRM Server hosted by Microsoft. It uses Windows Live authentication.
13. I have downloaded OnPremise / Hosted Version, but it gives Login error?
As discussed earlier, the Onpremise and Hosted servers have two different authentication methods:
  1. Web base (IFD Authentication)
  2. OnPremise (AD Authentication)
Look at the screens and explanations below to determine the authentication type you use to login to your CRM server and what parameters to enter on Mobile Client.

Web based (IFD Authentication)

When you type in your CRM server URL on the web browser if you see a form based authentication screen like shown in Screen 9.1 below then your server is using IFD authentication and on your Mobile Client you should be providing the parameters as shown in screen 9.2.

Web Browser - Screen 9.1

Mobile Client - Screen 9.2

  1. Provide the same “User Name” and “Password” as you use to login to the server.
  2. “Organization” field is optional. If not provided, Mobile client takes the first organization from the organization list the server returns for you. So, if you belong to only one organization then it will work fine. if you belong to multiple organizations on the same server, then you need to provide the proper organization name.
  3. 3. URL is mandatory and it is same as you enter on web browser to access the server e.g. if you enter URL http://crm.mycompany.com:5555, you must enter http://crm.mycompany.com:5555

OnPremise (AD Authentication)

When you type in your CRM server URL on the web browser if you see a formed based authentication screen like shown in screen 9.3 below then your server is using AD authentication and you should be providing the parameters in Mobile Client as shown in Screen 9.4.

Mobile Client - Screen 9.4

  1. Provide the same “User Name” and “Password” as you use to login to the server.
  2. “Organization” field is optional and if not provided, Mobile client takes the first organization from the list of organizations your user name is configured for. So, if your user name if configured for multiple organizations in the same server, you need to provide it.
  3. URL is mandatory and it is same as you enter on web browser to access the server e.g. if you enter URL http://crm.mycompany.com:5555, you must enter http://crm.mycompany.com:5555
  4. Enter the Domain name as the same Domain name you use as part of user name as shown in the above screen.
14. I have downloaded Protected OnPremise Version, how can I Login?
Protected OnPremise servers are nothing but servers that are protected inside your firewall which you either login using an internal IP address, or when you use with external IP address your firewall does the port forwarding. But the authentication methods are still the same types:
  1. OnPremise (AD authentication)
  2. Web Based (IFD authentication)

Only thing is you need to install a proxy server available from us for free and instead of providing your CRM server URL during login, you will provide the proxy service address as shown below:

Screen 10.1 Protected IFD

Screen 10.2 Protected AD

1. Notice, the parameters are exactly the same except the URL is slightly different. The URL you enter here is not the same URL you enter to access the CRM server. It is the URL that points to a Proxy service which makes it possible for the mobile client to access your server inside firewall. This proxy service is installed by your CRM administrator and configured to access the server internally. You will need to get the proxy URL from your system administrator. This example proxy URL is for a protected server that is installed in a virtual directory “protected” under the main server.

15. I have downloaded the MSCRM Online version. Now how can I login?
The Mobile Client uses the same credentials those you use during login to the online server from Internet Explorer.

  3. In the “Organization”, you need to provide the organization. Organization name is displayed at the top right hand corner of your screen once you have logged in to web browser

Having a storage card is an advantage to use the Mobile CRM+ application as the application downloads and stores CRM data which is rather huge for a small mobile device.

The application supports both Online and Offline mode. When you do not want the device to access internet on your mobile device, or when there is no internet connection on your device, you can put the application to offline mode. In Offline mode, you will be able to access all information that you had accessed when the application was running in online mode. In Offline mode, you will be able to capture new entities, edit, record file attachments, image attachments, record meetings, phone calls and this information will be saved on your device. When the application goes to online mode, the new and edited information are automatically uploaded to the server.
19. What if the application is not able to upload information to the server?
The application does not lose any information if it is unable to upload to the server. The error condition is logged and is available through the error log file. You have the option to have the application email you the information it is unable to upload so that you can upload if manually to the server.
20. My Server is a OnPremise server using Web based (IFD) authentication but Mobile CRM+ is not able to connect after I enter the credentials
If you have entered the credentials correctly as shown in the screens above and still not able to connect then your CRM server may have been protected behind a firewall or you may be using it using and internal IP address. Please make sure you are using the “Protected OnPremise” version of the client and have installed the Proxy web service.
